Assessment and analysis of Ecological foot print (Case study: Townships of Mazandaran Provence)

Abstract

The index of Ecological foot print is a base for the relationship between human and nature. When the demographic foot print of a region  is higher than its capacity, the society is moving towards unsustainability. Ecological foot print, therefore, is a suitable means for measuring sustainable development. In this research the ecological foot print accounted for Mazandaran Provence in 2012 to see if its natural capacity can meet the needs of local people and tourists. How is its ecological foot print regarding its tourist attractions? And how is its sustainability? To count the ecological foot print of the province and its cities, the data of Iranian Statistics Center has been used. In order to measure this index, the methodology has been used which was proposed by Gottilib and Guzmanand global foot print. Findings show that the use of natural resources in the Provence is higher than its capacity except in 2 cities.
