Measuring and assessing the Social sustainability of small cities ‎(A Case study of small cities in Mazandaran province)‎

Abstract

This study aimed to measure social sustainability conducted small cities of Mazandaran. The ‎research method is analytic. The method of compiling information based on the nature of ‎research is librarian and field study. The study population consisted of all small cities with a ‎population that is less than ‎‏50‏‎ thousand people. ‌ for example, to choose the sample, the ‎entire province of Mazandaran has been divided into three zones of Eastern, Central and ‎Western in terms of size and population‏ ‏and in each zone some cities have been chosen. ‎Urban households selected by "systematic random" selection and cities have been chosen ‎based on random cluster sampling that ‎‏7‏‎ cities have been chosen.The findings by‏ ‏Using a ‎barometer of sustainability show the poor state of social instablity in small cities located in ‎the central part of the study, especially in the province. The results show that factors such as ‎instablity indicators of quality of life both mental and physical, dissatisfaction with the ‎performance of government agencies, the poor quality of public services, job dissatisfaction, ‎low level performance of services index and cultural diversity through the tourist coastal ‎towns have the highest share in social instability in these cities. Therefore, in order to stabilize ‎the social dimensions of policy, attention to the factors that enhance the quality of life in ‎these cities are essential.‎.
