Abstract

Cities have struggled with different problems during different eras, and sometimes, uninformed decisions have caused the decline of cities. In the meantime, the public spaces of the cities have undergone more changes and transformations through these decisions. Therefore, the decision-makers were always looking for ways to make the cities flourish and be prosperous; for this reason, issues such as urban development plans have been raised. Therefore, the purpose of the current research is to investigate and evaluate urban development plans with an emphasis on public spaces such as Chaharbagh Bala Street and Imam Ali Square in Isfahan city. This study is practical-developmental in terms of purpose and descriptive-analytical and survey in terms of method. Field methods and the study of document-library sources obtained the required information. The statistical population of the citizens of Isfahan city is within the studied limits. The sample size was determined using Cochran's method, and finally, the questionnaire was distributed among 384 people from the statistical population. Using the AHP method, the indicators were weighted, and the studied areas were ranked according to the indicators using the Aras method. The results show that the Chaharbagh Bala Axis development plan is in a better condition compared to the development plan of Imam Ali Square and has a final weight of 1 in the physical dimension, a final weight of 0.951 in the environmental dimension, a final weight of 0.989 in the economic dimension, a final weight of 1 in the social dimension, and a final weight of 1 in the management dimension
