[English]

The increasing spread of digital technologies creates many challenges and opportunities for the mental health of citizens, especially Tehran citizens. However, no study has examined these challenges and opportunities in Iranian cities so far. For this purpose, this study aims to combine the views of experts and domestic research and identify and analyze the opportunities and challenges related to digital mental health in Iranian urban environments. This study uses a mixed qualitative methodological approach. In fact, after a systematic review of previous studies and interviews with experts, the challenges and opportunities in this area have been identified and analyzed using the content analysis method. The findings of this study show that managerial factors play a fundamental role in Iranian cities. Managerial opportunities mainly emphasize the possibility of patient-centered care. While managerial threats mainly indicate the intergenerational digital divide. On the other hand, individual characteristics play an important role in determining the extent to which citizens benefit from digital mental health services and their vulnerability to the risks in this area. Individual opportunities emphasize more on increasing the resilience and public awareness and information of citizens regarding mental health. However, individual threats mainly imply the lack of digital skills and literacy among citizens. The socio-cultural category also plays an important role in shaping the attitude and behavior of citizens. As a result, although digital technologies have significant potential to improve access to mental health services, increase public awareness, and empower individuals, if not managed properly and paying attention to existing challenges, they can have significant negative consequences on the mental health of urban society.
